Go behind the scenes and check out these giraffes at the Perth Zoo – from wherever you have web access. They’ve just launched a new live cam system, thanks to a partnership with Zenien , Milestone Systems and Axis Communications for the new video solution.
Perth Zoo’s majestic giraffe herd can now be watched virtually, thanks to a live camera installed in the giraffe habitat. Milestone video management software operating with AXIS network video cameras has been deployed by Zenien system integration experts.
The video feed is live for public display on the zoo website: anyone can now enjoy watching the graceful creatures’ activities in the well-loved giraffe habitat. The live-stream cameras allow people all over the world to get a sneak peek at Perth Zoo’s giraffes in the evening and early morning, when they are hanging out in their ‘night quarters’ or throughout the day when they are roaming the African Savannah.
The youngest of the herd, named Inkosi, is growing taller by the day. Following his birth, he amassed quite a digital fan club, with more than 3 million people watching his exploits on the Zoo’s Facebook page. The live giraffe cam will now allow Inkosi fans a front-row seat to his daily adventures.
The giraffe live cam is just one of the many initiatives rolled out over the last few weeks to bring the beautiful Perth Zoo directly to you, virtually. The Zoo’s website hosts a virtual home safari, keeper talks and digital educational resources, while the Zoo’s Facebook page has weekly live keeper Q&As and enchanting animal live streams.
