Paxton has released a plugin enabling the integration of its networked access control system, Net2, with Milestone XProtect video management software (VMS). The integration allows users to display access control events and monitor video surveillance cameras from the Milestone XProtect Smart Client – or manage them from Net2.
For video verification of incidents, this integration associates camera views with doors and access points, and displays real-time video events when access alarms occur. Convenient pop-up notifications instantly gain an operator’s attention to events of interest.
Doors can be locked or unlocked directly from the XProtect Smart Client interface, where user information and events can be displayed to provide full visibility of who is accessing areas throughout a site.
We are very pleased to strengthen the long-term partnership between Paxton and Milestone. As mutual proponents of open platform software, this latest integration offers customers the choice to operate their access control from the XProtect video client. -Reinier Tuinzing, Strategic Alliances Manager, Americas, at Milestone System
The plug-in integrates Paxton Net2 Access Control directly into the XProtect Smart Client and allows the user to monitor and control access and video surveillance from one unified interface, eliminating the need to run two separate applications. The Paxton plug-in integration enables the user to open and close doors while simultaneously viewing video footage of the doors.
Combining video with access control offers several advantages. Operators can use visual verification of events to make faster, more informed decisions, as well as conduct comprehensive post-incident investigations. With operators managing video surveillance and access control systems from a single interface, the integration creates a very efficient work process.
The integration between Paxton Net2 with Milestone XProtect VMS using XProtect Access 2016 is a Milestone Certified Solution. This means that the interoperability has been fully tested and documented in four key areas: functionality, usability, performance and partner assessment.
