With this month’s release of XProtect 2020 R1 video management software (VMS), Milestone Systems has introduced new features for pop-up notifications, Centralized Search and LPR data aggregation, as well as support for new ONVIF device profiles. Capabilities to extend the functionality of online services will enable partners to bring innovative video analytics and AI integrations faster and easier to market.
The Milestone Integration Platform Software Development Kit (MIP SDK) in the XProtect VMS has been extended with a toolkit of sample code for building a Video Processing Service using the Gstreamer framework. This is a new and more flexible way of enabling AI, video analytics and machine learning in conjunction with XProtect VMS.
This helps Milestone Technology Partners to create advanced and efficient hardware-accelerated video processing integrations using the newest technologies and industry standards. This initiative also unlocks the ability to develop applications in Linux.
Milestone XProtect 2020 R1 offers better support for devices integrated to the VMS through ONVIF (the Open Network Video Interface Forum that was founded by Axis, Bosch and Sony to set global standards). User access to cameras can now be configured directly from XProtect. The device network settings (IP addresses, subnet masks, default gateways) can also be configured for existing ONVIF-compliant devices. Adding this feature will make XProtect fully compliant with ONVIF profiles T and Q for advanced video streaming and quicker installations.
In the XProtect Smart Client, operators can now see pop-up notifications on their screens when an alarm is triggered in the system, even if the Smart client is minimized. This can be customized for more visibility by importance: with a single click, the operator is directed to a separate window showing the alarm details and related video recording, for immediate action.
A Centralized Search feature makes it easy to find a specific incident by aggregating all data types registered on the XProtect VMS. With XProtect 2020 R1 operators can include data from XProtect LPR (License Plate Recognition) in their search, to connect video content with a specific vehicle. The solution also integrates Axis network video cameras with several license plate recognition applications.
