Toronto City and Hospitals Get Milestone Video from JCI
Johnson Controls Inc. was a pioneer partner for Milestone Systems open platform video management solutions in Canada.
We have a long-term relationship that started eight years ago, and over that time JCI has become a Milestone Platinum Partner in Canada. More than 15 professionals at JCI in this region have been certified to work with our open platform technology, especially concerning value-adding integrations of our software with other systems like access control. – Peter Lintzeris, Channel Business Manager, Milestone Systems, Canada
Some of the projects JCI has carried out include the city of Toronto, which started with a year-long pilot to test the Milestone software platform. That proof-of-concept resulted in the decision to implement XProtect Corporate fully this year to manage 1,000 network cameras from Axis Communications. The open platform architecture also enables integration of the video with C-CURE access control from Software House. The solution is a redundant system with high availability (HA).
Other JCI customers using Milestone video management software include hospitals, who have strict requirements in Canada with what is called ‘the 3 Ps’: Private-Public Partnership. The 3 Ps ensure public funding is used optimally and especially that healthcare projects are run accountably. Milestone VMS serves these needs, from data capture and viewing to archiving and export – also mobile access.
We have a lot of installations in the commercial real estate sector as well as the health sector. It’s important to us with the 3 Ps because we have to integrate to numerous, different systems, and being an open platform makes it easy for us to work with Milestone, to pass information from system to system within a hospital environment. The Milestone solution is a good fit for us from smaller projects right on to major large ones across Canada. – Ralph Staffiere, Senior Account Executive – Major Projects, JCI
At the October 2016 CANASA security association trade show, SP&T magazine came by the Milestone booth to talk to Pete and to get more project details from Danny Zavaglia and Ralph Staffiere from JCI.
We chose to lead with Milestone XProtect as our VMS product due to its ease of use, scalability and easy integration to other platforms such as access control like Software House or other systems. IT customers really like the ease of connecting with Milestone and the minimal bandwidth it takes up going across the network. – Danny Zavaglia, Fire & Security Sales Manager, JCI
